Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) is about to get even more intense. Microsoft, seemingly by accident, has advanced the release of Omni-Man, the eagerly awaited DLC character for MK1.

What Do We Know So Far?

Omni-Man is set for early access release on November 6 according to the Xbox console storefront’s Mortal Kombat hub. Here’s what fans should be excited about:

  • Origin: Omni-Man isn’t new to the scene. He’s the notorious supervillain from the Invincible series.
  • Voice Actor: J.K. Simmons, known for voicing Omni-Man in Amazon Prime Video’s popular show, lends his voice for the MK1 version.
  • Gameplay Teasers: A gameplay trailer from NYCC 2023 showcased some iconic moves, including his legendary train attack.
  • Availability: Omni-Man is the premier character of the Kombat Pack 1. Players can get him as an individual fighter or with the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition.
  • More Characters on the Way: Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda are set to join the fight in the Kombat Pack 1.

Ed Boon, the development chief for Mortal Kombat, confirmed in an interview with IGN that Omni-Man and Homelander will have distinct gameplay despite their seemingly similar powers.

Although Warner Bros. Games hasn’t officially announced the release date for Omni-Man, it’s expected to be soon.

Not All Smooth Sailing

Despite the excitement around the new character, MK1 has recently faced criticism. The community expressed disappointment over an upcoming paid Fatality. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version faced backlash due to performance and graphics-related concerns.
