The galaxy far, far away is vast and mysterious, filled with stories of heroism, villainy, and the gray areas in between. Among these stories, few have resonated as deeply with fans as Star Wars Rebels, the animated series that bridged the era between the Republic’s fall and the rise of the Rebellion. This January, as fans across the globe mark the 10th anniversary of this beloved series, Marvel Comics is set to celebrate in style.
Announced recently, Marvel will be unveiling eight spectacular variant covers from January through April 2024, dedicated to the Rebels 10th Anniversary. Each cover will spotlight the heart and soul of the Spectres crew, our beloved Rebel team, and the characters intertwined with their fate. The genius behind these variants is none other than Caspar Wijngaard, acclaimed for his work on Star Wars: Doctor Aphra and Star Wars: Age of Rebellion.
From Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Knight who became the enigmatic Fulcrum, to Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla, and the charismatic Ezra Bridger, each character is poised to shine in this special series. Fans will also witness the compelling stories of the Mandalorian artist, Sabine Wren, the Imperial-turned-informant Agent Kallus, the imposing Grand Inquisitor, and the calculating Grand Admiral Thrawn.
For Wijngaard, this project is more than just another assignment; it’s a celebration of a series he adores. His recent involvement in the live-action adventures of Ahsoka amplifies the timing of this opportunity, making it all the more poignant.
As we anticipate the unveiling of these covers, fans are reminded of the legacy of Star Wars Rebels. It’s a testament to the series’ impact that a decade later, its characters and stories are still celebrated with such fervor. The force is indeed strong with the Ghost crew.
