In a world where A.I. news is so ubiquitous and encompassing, it seems fitting to have a movie like ‘The Creator’ come out. Unlike ‘The Terminator’ where the machine is the unstoppable villain, The Creator seems to flip that narrative on its head. We’ll leave it at that. While this movie definitely has phenomenal acting and spectacular visuals, this story seems to have a heavy 3rd act problem. All of the deep emotional roots it plants in the first 2/3rds of the movie are cut down by nonsensical and overly lucky circumstances at the end of the movie. With that being said, if you’re looking for more John David Washington, this movie delivers with him continuing to show why he deserves to be up there in status with his Dad. Plus really interesting and thought-provoking concepts are worth it to trip out on for 2 hrs. All in all, a good movie that deserves a theater viewing once, but it stops there.
