In the latest addition to the expanding Godzilla universe, Apple TV+ is set to premiere its anticipated series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” Delving deeper into the lore previously presented in films like “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” this 10-episode miniseries offers a unique twist: both Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell depict the same character, Lee Shaw, in different timelines. The series uncovers the mysterious Monarch organization’s ties to iconic monsters and follows two siblings unraveling their familial connection to it. While Kong isn’t present, figures like Godzilla and Rodan make appearances. Created by Chris Black and comic-book writer Matt Fraction, the star-studded series includes Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, and more. The narrative unfolds over three generations, tackling profound questions about true monsters coexisting with Titans. Following its global premiere on Nov. 17, viewers can anticipate weekly releases until Jan. 12, 2024, with a subsequent MonsterVerse film, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” launching in 2024.
