This year, there is anticipation about whether Sunday’s box office results will match or surpass Saturday’s. With popular movies like “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Gran Turismo,” and “Blue Beetle” in theaters, there is a possibility of a significant surge in ticket sales on Sunday. Additionally, exhibitors have scheduled more screenings on Sunday, resulting in an additional 800,000 seats available for purchase.

This decision is part of Disney’s efforts to cut costs and focus on profitability. They have been reevaluating their streaming strategies and removing certain content from their platforms. Disney Branded Television will now prioritize Disney-owned intellectual property for future projects. While there will be exceptions, such as the upcoming “Goosebumps” series and a new “Doctor Who” installment, the focus will be on Disney IP. “The Spiderwick Chronicles” series was announced in 2021 and filmed in Canada. It is based on the bestselling books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, telling a gothic, fantastical story.
