The Blue Beetle comic was created by Charles Nicholas Wojtkoski and first appeared in Mystery Men Comics #1 in August 1939. Blue Beetle is the alter ego of three different characters, each with their own unique origin story and powers.
Behind the Mask

The original Blue Beetle was Dan Garrett, a police officer who gained superpowers from a special vitamin. In 1939, Garrett was investigating a series of robberies when he came across an ancient Egyptian scarab. The scarab gave Garrett superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Garrett used his new powers to fight crime as the Blue Beetle.

Ted Kord was a scientist and inventor who was a former student of Dan Garrett. After Garrett’s death, Kord inherited the Blue Beetle scarab. Kord had no superpowers, but he was a skilled inventor and detective. He used the Blue Beetle scarab to create a variety of gadgets and weapons that he used to fight crime.

Jaime Reyes is the third and current Blue Beetle. He is a teenager who was bonded to an alien scarab that gave him superpowers. The scarab is called the “Nth Metal Scarab” and it is a piece of alien technology from the planet Reach. The scarab allows Reyes to create a suit of armor that grants him superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Reyes uses the Blue Beetle scarab to fight crime and protect his home city of El Paso, Texas.

- Superhuman durability: The Blue Beetle is incredibly tough, able to withstand great amounts of physical and energy damage.
- Flight: The Blue Beetle can fly using the Nth Metal Scarab.
- Energy blasts: The Blue Beetle can fire energy blasts from his hands.
- Force fields: The Blue Beetle can create force fields to protect himself from harm.
- Grappling hooks: The Blue Beetle can fire grappling hooks from his hands to reach high places or to pull himself towards enemies.
- Shape-shifting: The Nth Metal Scarab can transform into a variety of objects, such as weapons, tools, and even clothing.
- Expert combat skills: The Blue Beetle is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, and he is also proficient in the use of various weapons.
