Lando Calrissian first appeared on the big screen in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back, where he was introduced as an old friend of Han Solo and the administrator of Cloud City. Williams reprised the role in the 1983 sequel Return of the Jedi, portraying the character as a general in the Rebel Alliance. He returned to the character in the 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker, where he assisted the Resistance.
