Marvel Announces New Marvel Super Stories Variant Covers Program

Marvel Comics has announced a new program called Marvel Super Stories Variant Covers, which will debut this fall. Starting in October, the publisher will release a special variant cover of one of its heroes reading a comic book every month. The characters in these variant covers will each be reading Marvel’s most talked about issue of the month they appear in, beginning with Immortal Thor #3. The titular god will be reading the upcoming G.O.D.S. #1 written by Jonathan Hickman with art from Valerio Schiti on a variant cover by Marvel artist, Giuseppe Camuncoli.

The Marvel Super Stories Variant Covers program is a fun way to promote Marvel’s upcoming comics and to give fans a glimpse of what’s to come. It’s also a great way to collect some unique and interesting covers.

G.O.D.S. #1 First Look Preview Released

Marvel has released a first look preview for its new cosmos-altering series, G.O.D.S., by Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti. The series sees the Marvel Universe come together to prevent a so-called “Babylon Event,” and the new characters like the mysterious Wyn and the villainous Cubisk Core, are at the center of this threat that could literally alter all reality within the Marvel Universe.

The series revolves around agents from two mysterious groups, THE-POWERS-THAT-BE and THE-NATURAL-ORDER-OF-THINGS. As Marvel notes in its press release for this preview, “The infinite détente between THE-NATURAL-ORDER-OF-THINGS and THE-POWERS-THAT-BE nears an end. Old acquaintances are reunited during a Babylon Event. The Lion of Wolves throws the worst parties. Don’t look under the table. There’s a John Wilkes Booth penny on the ground.”

The preview gives us a glimpse of some of the new characters and concepts that will be introduced in G.O.D.S., as well as some of the threats that they will face. It’s clear that this is going to be a big, ambitious series, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

G.O.D.S. #1 is due out on October 4.
