Electronic Arts (EA) has officially confirmed the long-rumored Black Panther game, although details regarding its release window and intended platforms have yet to be revealed. The single-player action-adventure game, based on Marvel’s Black Panther, is being developed by a newly established EA studio called Cliffhanger Games, located in Seattle.
While EA did not release any screenshots or videos of the game, they did confirm that it will be an original third-person, single-player adventure developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. Kevin Stephens, the former studio head of Monolith Productions during the development of the Shadow of Mordor franchise, is leading the project. The team at Cliffhanger includes individuals who have previously worked on titles such as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and Call of Duty.

“We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game.”
Kevin Stephens
The prospect of a Black Panther game from the minds behind Shadow of Mordor is undeniably exciting. Shadow of Mordor, released in 2014, received acclaim for its immersive storytelling, open-world exploration, and the innovative Nemesis System. This patented system allows non-playable characters to remember their interactions with the protagonist and dynamically respond to them. EA’s intention with the Black Panther game is to create an expansive and reactive world, enabling players to experience what it’s like to assume the mantle of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther. This suggests that the game may incorporate similar mechanics to the groundbreaking Nemesis System.
While fans eagerly anticipate delving into the world of Wakanda, it’s important to note that the Black Panther game is still in its early stages of development. As such, it’s unlikely to be released anytime soon.
