Director Christopher Nolan revealed that his upcoming film Oppenheimer will feature “zero” CGI shots. This is a significant departure from the norm for big-budget Hollywood films, which often rely heavily on computer-generated effects.
Nolan is known for his commitment to practical filmmaking, and he has said that he wanted to create a more realistic and visceral experience for audiences in Oppenheimer. To recreate the devastation of an atomic bomb, the filmmakers used a variety of practical effects, including miniatures, forced perspective, and pyrotechnics.
The film tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who led the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb. It stars Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Benny Safdie.
Oppenheimer is scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023.
Only time will tell if Oppenheimer lives up to the hype, but one thing is for sure: it is sure to be a visually stunning and unforgettable film.
