‘1923’ Delayed Indefinitely
The production of the Paramount+ series “1923” has been indefinitely delayed due to the ongoing writers’ strike. Filming for the second season of the Yellowstone prequel was scheduled to begin in Montana earlier this month but has been postponed. The Butte Civic Center, where the production was set to take place, confirmed the delay and mentioned that the production is paying $75,000 per month to use the venue until the end of the year. “1923,” created by Taylor Sheridan, follows the Dutton family in the early 20th century, dealing with pandemics, drought, and Prohibition. The series features Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and a talented ensemble cast.
Next Games on GamePass Revealed
Microsoft has announced the upcoming additions to Xbox Game Pass, extending into the end of June and early July. On June 22, Need for Speed Unbound will be available on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and the cloud for Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play members. The Bookwalker, a narrative adventure where you play as a writer-turned-thief, will also launch on June 22 for Game Pass on console and PC. On June 27, Bramble: The Mountain King (horror-inspired) and F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch (dieselpunk metroidvania) will be added to Game Pass on various platforms. On June 29, farming sim Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town will be available on Game Pass for console and PC. Moving into early July, Arcade Paradise (‘90s retro arcade adventure) will arrive on July 3, followed by Sword and Fairy: Together Forever on July 5, both on console and PC. Additionally, several games will be leaving Game Pass on June 30, including DJMax Respect V, Empire of Sin, Matchpoint – Tennis Championships, Olija, Omori, and Road 96.
Nintendo Direct Tomorrow
Nintendo has announced that a Nintendo Direct will take place on June 21 at 7 am PT / 3 pm UK. The livestream will last around 40 minutes and will primarily focus on Nintendo Switch games releasing this year. The event will include new details on Pikmin 4, among other game announcements. This is the third Nintendo Direct of the year and the second one centered on Nintendo Switch games. The previous Directs in February and March provided information about games launching in the first half of the year and the Super Mario Bros. movie, respectively. Nintendo’s release schedule for the remainder of 2023 includes Everybody 1-2 Switch in June, Pikmin 4 in July, and the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet DLC called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero starting this fall. Nintendo has also confirmed that a new Switch successor won’t be released until at least April 2024.
Netflix Confirms Extraction 3
Netflix has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will return for Extraction 3, as announced during the Tudum 2023 event on June 17. Hemsworth portrays Tyler Rake, a skilled black ops mercenary, in the franchise. The first film follows Rake on a mission to save the son of an Indian crime lord, while in Extraction 2, he embarks on another daring mission to rescue the family of a Georgian gangster. Sam Hargrave directs the films, with Golshifeh Farahani and Adam Bessa among the main cast. Extraction 2 introduces Idris Elba and Olga Kurylenko in new roles. The first Extraction film, released in April 2020, became Netflix’s most-watched original film debut and garnered immense popularity. Extraction 2 has received positive reviews and is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
