Paramount+ has announced that Christopher Lloyd, Cary Elwes, Stockard Channing, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel have joined the cast of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series, Knuckles. The series will star Idris Elba as Knuckles, and it is set to premiere in 2023.

Lloyd is best known for his roles in Back to the Future, Taxi, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Elwes is best known for his roles in The Princess Bride and The Magnificent Seven. Channing is best known for her roles in Grease, The West Wing, and The Good Wife. Scheer is best known for his roles in The League, Veep, and The Daily Show. Huebel is best known for his roles in Bob’s Burgers, The Mindy Project, and The Goldbergs.

The details of the characters that Lloyd, Elwes, Channing, Scheer, and Huebel will play have not been revealed. However, the series is said to follow Knuckles on a journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.

The Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series is one of several projects that are in development based on the popular video game franchise. A third Sonic the Hedgehog movie is also in the works, and it is scheduled to be released in 2024.
