DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has stated that the Superman reboot project, which would reportedly star a Black lead, is still a possibility despite the announcement of Superman: Legacy. Gunn clarified that the existence of Superman: Legacy does not necessarily mean that other Superman stories are off the table, and the formation of Elseworlds allows different DCU projects to coexist outside the main connected narrative. Gunn mentioned that the Superman reboot could be an Elseworlds tale like Joker and that the project could happen if the script is great and the timing is right.
